Kathmandu. King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida of Thailand have provided humanitarian relief materials for the victims of floods and landslides in Nepal.
The relief materials prepared based on the priorities of the Government of Nepal include tents, sleeping bags, personal protective equipment (PPE), generators and other essential materials. The relief material weighing about 14 thousand 200 pounds i.e. 6.44 metric tons is going to be sent from Thailand to Nepal.
On behalf of the King of Thailand, the Privy Councilor handed over the relief materials to the Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, Dhan Bahadur Oli, at the handing over ceremony held at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok on Saturday.
The relief materials will be brought to Kathmandu from Bangkok on September 6 through a special flight. Then it will be distributed to the affected communities.
At the handover event, Ambassador Oli expressed gratitude to the King and Queen of Thailand for their support on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the Nepalese people. He also thanked the Royal Palace of Thailand, the government, the Royal Thai Air Force and the Thai people for their humanitarian assistance during the disaster.
Ambassador Oli said that the support received in difficult circumstances reflects the long-standing friendly relationship, solidarity and close relationship between Nepal and Thailand. He mentioned that the relief materials will make a significant contribution to the ongoing rescue and relief efforts of Nepal and will provide immediate assistance to the affected communities.
