20 August, Bajura. 23 families have been displaced due to severe floods in Bajura's Veerekhola waterfall. With the incessant rain since Friday night, there was a huge flood in Veerekhola.
Lalsingh Saund, a local, said that the flood occurred after the lake formed by the damming of the river burst due to a landslide on the Veerekhola waterfall, which is located on the border of Badimalika Municipality-6 and 8, located in the headquarters of Martadi.
"When the flood suddenly came, we walked outside the house," he said, "so far, there is neither food nor shelter."
Although the flood did not cause any human casualties or direct damage to the houses, 23 families were displaced after a large flood came from the middle of the village. Locals said that 18 more families are also at risk.
Baduwal, Acting Ward Chairman of Badimalika Municipality-6 informed that 41 families were affected by the flood.
According to him, the flood has damaged a fish pond, two water tanks and the ticket counter of Veerekhola waterfall. Similarly, he said that even the farmers' paddy crops were washed away and the fields turned into bogs.
Acting Ward President Baduwal informed that 23 displaced families have been moved to safer places after the flood.
