Residents of Bhattaar village of Apihimal Rural Municipality-1 in Darchula, a remote Himalayan district in the Far West, have been relocated after continuous heavy landslides. Residents of Bhattar, who are at high risk, have been moved to another nearby safe place that can be reached after about an hour's walk. Along with the people of the settlement, their cattle, livestock and grain rations are also being shifted to a safe place.​​

According to the village council, the settlement is at high risk after the landslide started falling yesterday morning after 1:00 p.m. continuously for two hours. The main river Chamelia was completely blocked for almost half an hour and became a lake when the huge pile of landslide fell. Bhakta Bohora, Chairman of the Rural Municipality, informed that even though the river has partially opened the blocked part by cutting itself, the landslides are still continuing, so there is still a danger of the settlements being washed away. Landslides have caused great damage to the land of the settlement, farmlands as well as ripening corn crops and the footpath has also been blocked.

A team of security personnel under the command of the DSP of the Armed Police has been deployed to rescue and manage the disaster management team of the rural municipality, employees, volunteers. Since there are 3 large hydropower project dams on the Chamelia river, if the river blocked by a landslide suddenly bursts, there is a danger that even the Mahakali river will become more violent and cause great destruction in the coastal area. Due to this, there is a high risk that most of the territories of Terai district Kanchanpur in Far West through Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura will be affected, so it has been requested to take high vigilance and vigilance in the entire coastal area.

President Bohora said that risk control and relief management are impossible with the sole efforts of the rural municipality due to the severe situation and difficult mountainous geography. He appealed for the help of federal and state governments for immediate rescue, permanent relocation of displaced settlements and long-term rehabilitation.
