There has been a huge loss of life and property in Rasuwa due to the severe floods that have flowed into the Bhotekoshi River from the Nepal-China border area. Due to the flood passing through Lhende river, 1 thousand 313 people have been rescued alive in the district so far, while 3 thousand 71 people are still without contact.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, 1,227 Nepalese and 86 foreign tourists who were affected by floods and landslides have been successfully rescued by security personnel and locals. 145 pilgrims and locals stranded in Gosaikund area due to flood have been safely transferred to Nuwakot and Kathmandu via helicopter. Helicopters have been used for relief and rescue in remote and disconnected areas.

After the disaster, the number of people who are without contact in the district is huge. 27 Nepali Army, 28 Nepal Police, 13 Armed Police, 79 government employees and 26 employees of banks and financial institutions under Srinath Gan, Brabal Barracks are still out of touch.

Similarly, one thousand 370 from Rasuwa, one thousand 262 and 266 foreign tourists from other districts are without contact, said the assistant Pragya officer.

Six of the bodies found during the disaster have been identified and handed over to their relatives. Janak Acharya, Gangadevi Shrestha, Puduli Tamang, Ashveer Tamang and Ashish Baniyan of Uttar Gaya-5 and Chiring Gyalmo Tamang of Gosaikund-6 have been identified. Among the 163 dead bodies found at various other places, five people have been identified and the process of collecting the bond for the identification process and DNA testing of the rest is underway, said the Assistant Pragya Officer.

The flood has caused great damage to the physical structure of Rasuwa. According to preliminary reports, 1,500 private houses have been completely or partially damaged. Similarly, 28 government and public institutions, eight public schools, three private schools and 14 bank buildings have been damaged.

Similarly, 41 kilometers of highways and road sections, which are considered the backbone of the district, have come to a standstill. Six fixed motorable bridges, eight truss and bailey bridges, one arch bridge and 10 suspension bridges were washed away or damaged by the floods. Eight hydropower projects in the district have also been severely damaged.

Seven thousand 33 citizens who were displaced from Thatathalo have been kept in different 12 safe shelters in the district. Arrangements have been made for housing for dependent citizens at City Center, Komin Shyame Wangfel High School, Ganesh Basic School and other places located in Dhunche. So far, 136 relief materials have been distributed to the affected areas. Even in the midst of the disaster, electricity service has been restored to 83 percent of the population of the district, while the communication service of Nepal Telecom has been brought into operation in the entire area, which has facilitated the rescue and coordination work.
