35-year-old Ram Prasad Tharu of Barbardia-1 Jodipur in Bardia used to work in the Mailung hydropower project. He, who worked as a firm in the project, was swept away by the flood that occurred on August 10. But somehow he reached the shore and barely survived. He is currently undergoing treatment. He told Online News about the shocking moment of that day as follows:

Where were you when the flood occurred on August 10?

We had night duty. I came in the morning after night duty, had breakfast and slept. And it was reported that the flood was coming. Then I started running away. There were two of us in our room. Another friend was on duty in our camp.

He came and informed us that 'flood is coming, run away'. Then we started running away from there. We had come up to the road above here while running away. I had reached a little above the road. From there, I was drowned by the flood and how far down I was taken, I didn't know.

What did you do there?

I used to work as a firm in hydropower.

Power China company. It is in Mailung.

How did you know that there was a flood?

One of our roommates was on duty. The place where we stayed was also near the office. He came to the room and took his bag and said, 'Flood is coming, let's run'.

After coming out, we saw other security officers also coming out. After closing the door of our room, no outside noise could be heard inside the room. So he reported that 'the flood is coming, run away' and ran away with the bag. We also escaped with him.

Did the flood find you? Did you get swept away in a flood?

Mr. From there, I was drowned by the flood. Then they would take me out and drown me again. Well, I didn't know how far it went down. I didn't want to. When I came, I was at the edge of the mountain.

And I crawled out of Ledo myself. Little by little I went up. I climbed the mountain myself and reached a little higher.

When you came to your senses, was there a person next to you or not?

There was no one. When I came to Hos, there was no one there. After coming to my senses, I left Ledo myself. I myself climbed a little higher up the hill to see if there would be another big flood. There are armies above me. They came after hearing my voice.

It is also said that you were rescued by a diver. Do you know anything about that?

Army, that's all I know. There were armies. Hearing my voice, four or five army men came.

It is said that one of the armed police pulled you out of the river while you were flowing. Don't know about that?

No, I don't know about that. I left there myself. By the time we left Ledo, there was no one there. Until then, I know.

After leaving Ledo, did you go up there and meet the army-police?

Mr. There were armies above me. I said 'save, save'. I was shivering with cold. Then four or five of them came to where I was.

They made me sit there and said 'sit here, we will come down together'. They went down. He said, "Helicopter will be called."

After a long time they came. One or two people were down from there. One person came and took my hand and took me down a little and made me sit there. About an hour and a half later, the helicopter arrived.

I don't know where they took me from there. My eyes could not see, but I could hear the voice. My body and face were all muddy.

And where did you wash that mud?

Well, I don't know where I went to wash my face. There were no clothes on the body. There was only a vest. The army men took out the kattu from their bag and put it on.

Where did the helicopter rescue you that day?

It was not known where he was taken that day. It seems that he was taken to the hospital. There was a slight sensation. Then I heard a voice saying 'Kathmandu'. I don't know what time he brought me that day.

Did you come to Kathmandu on the day of the flood?

yes Maybe that day. He took me from there to a place in the mountain forest. Those who ask here say that they brought Kathmandu from there that same day at night.

How is your health now?

There are still wounds, they have not healed. Now I am better than before, a little bit. The leg wound has not healed yet. is big It is also in the head. The stomach has not recovered. Stomach still hurts.

When will you go home now? Has something happened?

He said that he will be discharged from here (hospital) today. I don't know the house yet. The wound is still not healed. He has said that he will stay in the camp.

How long have you been working there in Mailung? How many months or years has it been?

It has been exactly one year since I came and went. I came last year in July. I went home again in January. Then I came again. I went home in May. I went home in May and after planting, I just came back in July. Now it was only a month since July.
