Kathmandu. It is estimated that 95.42 billion rupees will be spent only to remove the stones, mud, sand and building debris accumulated by the Bhotekoshi flood.
In the 'Rapid Damage and Necessity Assessment (RDNA) Report' prepared by the National Planning Commission and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, it is mentioned that the expenditure for immediate and long-term re-establishment is estimated.
In the report, it is estimated that the amount will be spent for the removal of the structures of the collapsed buildings under the 'cross cutting' area, disaster risk reduction and inclusive re-establishment. Due to the flood, structures of destroyed buildings worth Rs 48 billion 24 crores have been piled up. There is a pile of soil of about two billion in it. It is estimated that more than Rs 300 million will be spent to remove it.
Similarly, for disaster risk reduction, it is estimated that Rs 35 crore will be spent immediately and Rs 94 crore 75 lakh for the long term. It is seen that the expenses will be incurred for the development of the removal of debris in waterways, river management and settlement protection, command area development, high river bank erosion and landslide control, irrigation system re-establishment and multi-disaster early warning system.
The report shows that Rs 150 crore is required immediately for inclusive re-establishment, i.e. for six months. This amount will be spent on re-establishment and reconstruction by covering the needs of vulnerable and marginalized communities, women, children, senior citizens, disabled people and other vulnerable groups.
The report states that 31.1 percent of the removal of building debris, stones, soil, and sand can be completed within six months. Also, the report states that only 0.4 percent of work can be done under risk reduction management. Inclusive re-establishment and reconstruction is likely to be completed within that time.
67.42 billion rupees will be spent in the infrastructure sector for immediate revival. In the energy sector, there will be works related to hydropower and grid, household renewable energy, roads, bridges, communication, sanitation and drinking water, irrigation and rivers. It is estimated that Rs. It will be spent on private houses, public buildings and facilities, education, health and cultural sectors.
It is estimated that five billion rupees will be required for the immediate revival of the manufacturing sector. This amount will be spent on agriculture, fish farming, animal husbandry, banking, economic activities and livelihood. In addition, it is estimated that Rs. 6.6 billion will be required immediately for six months to remove debris and reduce disaster risk.
