The Social Welfare Council has requested all concerned, including national and international non-governmental social organizations, to respect their self-respect, dignity and privacy while providing relief and humanitarian assistance to the disaster-affected citizens.
On the 10th of August, there was a huge human and material loss in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other districts due to the flood that occurred in the Bhotekoshi-Lhende river on the Nepal-China border. After the call of the council, various national and international non-governmental social organizations have been mobilized for rescue, relief and rehabilitation.
The Council has drawn serious attention to the fact that during relief and humanitarian assistance, their audio-visual materials and photos are being made public through various media and social networks without considering the self-esteem, dignity and privacy of the victims.
The council has requested to fully follow the code of conduct regarding the distribution of relief materials while distributing relief and humanitarian materials to the disaster-affected citizens. Also, it has been requested not to take pictures and videos of the victims without their permission and not to publish and transmit such materials to increase their pain.
Likewise, the Council has earnestly requested all concerned not to place, publish or transmit any photos, logos, signs or other promotional materials of a religious or commercial nature during relief and humanitarian assistance.
The council requested that the humanitarian assistance during the disaster should be conducted in a responsible, sensitive and humane manner while protecting the respect, dignity and privacy of the victims.
