22 August, Kathmandu. Executive Head of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Dr. Dharmaraj Upreti has claimed that the relief materials have reached most of the flood-affected areas.
Speaking at the program held at the Authority on Monday. Upreti has said that relief has reached all other places except the critical areas that have to be transported by helicopter.
He clarified that there is some difficulty in sending relief by air as helicopters are mainly given priority in searching for the missing and rescuing the trapped.
We are in constant contact with the local government. Relief materials have reached many places,' said Dr. Upreti said, "where it is difficult to operate a helicopter, now only search and rescue is given priority." However, we are trying to send food items not only from Kathmandu but also from the nearby stations of Trishuli or Rasuwa.
"Fake videos have a negative impact on social media"
Executive Chief Upreti has appealed not to do such things saying that misleading and 'fake videos' related to the disaster are spreading on social media. He says that the virality of videos that were not at the scene had a negative impact on the public and spread panic.
We found that some fake videos that are not in our field are spreading on social media. We should be aware of the wrong information it gives," he said.
Since the first day of the rescue, security agencies have been deployed
Since the first day of the disaster, all three security agencies have been working round the clock for rescue and relief, the authority said. He informed that as soon as the names of the missing persons are received, the teams deployed in the field will be immediately mobilized through the security agencies, saying that no effort has been spared in the search, rescue and relief efforts of the state.
Addressing local complaints gradually and coordinating with neighboring countries, Dr. Upreti has made it clear.
