Rupandehi. Out of 15 Nepali children who were rescued from various places in India and brought to Nepal in dangerous conditions, 10 were handed over to their parents in Bhairahawa on Wednesday.
According to the District Police Office, they were rescued and brought back home in coordination with the Indian Police, Nepali Embassy and related social organizations under the special initiative of the Nepal Police Headquarters and the coordination of the Inspector General of Police.
An organization working against human trafficking and trafficking in Delhi, India, in coordination with the Nepal Police, has rescued children from Maharashtra, Delhi, Jharkhand, Vihar and other places. There are 10 boys and five girls among those rescued.
According to the director of 'Kin India', Naveen Joshi, they were taken to India to teach in a madrasa. Similarly, some children were in a dangerous situation due to family feuds, domestic quarrels and family violence. He said that some girls were rescued after they were found stranded at the railway station in Delhi.
Among the children who were handed over to their parents on Wednesday, there are six children from a village in Mahottari. They were taken to Jalan district of Maharashtra to teach in a madrasa and were rescued in coordination with the Maharashtra Police.
Similarly, one girl each from Pratappur, Rautahat, Jhapa and Parsa in West Nawalparasi has also been entrusted with guardianship. Other rescued children include two children from Palpa, one each from Achham and Kanchanpur and a girl from Siraha.
Some children are not willing to return home due to family quarrels, family disharmony and domestic violence. Rupandehi Police said that alternative management will be done based on the safety and needs of such children.
After the rescue, 'Kin India', Shubhavasar Gram Nepal and Good Shepherd International Foundation Nepal have been cooperating for repatriation, mental counseling, housing, search for parents and family reunification.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Chand, Spokesperson of the District Police Office, said that the children who were rescued from India and brought to Nepal were handed over in coordination with their parents.
