Kathmandu. The search and rescue of those trapped inside the tunnel of Trishuli-3 'A' hydropower project due to Bhotekoshi flood is continuing. A joint search and rescue team including 75 of the Nepali Army, 18 of the Armed Police and Nepal Police and experts rescued two people alive from that tunnel today.
They are being treated at Birendra Hospital cantonment. During the search and rescue, a body was removed from the place and further search and rescue operations are ongoing, said the Directorate of Military Public Relations.
Similarly, in Trishuli-3 'B', a joint rescue team consisting of 89 army personnel, three non-military personnel and the managing director of the project identified the office and residence of the project and dug a road with an excavator to reach the area and remove the soil. From audit-1 of the project, the rescue team has entered within 426 meters. According to the army, work is being done to link up with 3 'A' along with the operator to penetrate the excavator from Audit-1.
In Langtang Hydro, a joint search and rescue team comprising 25 army personnel and two non-military personnel entered the tunnel and found two dead bodies. Search and rescue is ongoing in that area.
At Chilime Hydro, a joint team with foreigners is working to dump water with the help of generators and pumps. A joint rescue team with 17 soldiers and representatives of the project is searching in the tunnel located at Haku of Upper Trishuli-1 using 'raft' and 'boat'. The water in the tunnel is being removed.
Connecting the bridge at Devighat
A team of 55 people from the army's engineering force is constructing a Khatii base for connecting a bridge to the Tadi river at Devighat. According to the army, some parts of the 'Acro Bridge' in Gajuri have been delivered to Trishuli to be connected to that place and more materials are being transported.
Necessary rescue teams with doctors are patrolling on foot in the forests, mountains, rivers and slums of the affected areas. More than 9,300 troops are active in searching and rescuing the injured, managing dead bodies, operating blocked roads and emergency treatment in the affected areas from Timure in Rasuwa to Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and Nawalparasi.
Meanwhile, the army said that 29 people were rescued from the affected area today through seven military and six non-military helicopters.
