Dhangadhi. A 15-year-old girl has died after being hit by a bicycle in Lamkichuha Municipality-8 Gapka of Kailali. 15-year-old Swastika Neupane of Lamkichuha Municipality-8 hit a pedestrian while crossing the road on the East-West highway at around 9:30 am on Thursday morning.
Neupane was taken to Lal Ratna Hospital Lamki for treatment due to a serious head injury due to the collision of the bicycle. From there he was referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment.
The doctor declared him dead at 11:07 a.m. as he was taken to Tikapur Hospital while being taken to Nepalganj for treatment, the police said. His body has been kept in Tikapur hospital mortuary.
After the accident, relatives of the deceased and locals blocked the east-west highway. Around 25-30 vehicles were stuck due to the obstruction. The vehicle involved in the accident has been brought to the local police office Lamki, while the driver, 30-year-old Pratap Chaudhary of Godavari Municipality-5 of Kailali, is under police custody.
Police teams from area police offices Lamki, Sukhkhad, Chisapani and Bahonia were mobilized to clear the obstruction on the highway. Security has been arranged by the police at the scene of the incident and in the highway area.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogendra Timilsina informed that the incident is being investigated further.
