The Radhakrishna Ratha Yatra has been completed in a grand manner in Biratnagar. The historic Radhakrishna Ratha Yatra is held every year on the day after Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
The Ratha Yatra of Radhakrishna's couple, which left the Radhakrishna Temple located in Biratnagar-1, has been completed in Biratnagar Nagar Parikrama. The chariot passed through Biratnagar's Tinpaini, Main Road, Traffic Chowk, Rodshesh Chowk, Mahendra Chowk, Bargachi Chowk and came back to the temple. It is said that the chariot traveled 9 km to the city.
V.No. Rath Yatra, which started with the 'Khat' journey since 1988, has been celebrated as a Rath Yatra festival since 2025. The Rath Yatra, which started 'Khat Yatra', has completed its 59th edition. Kailash Regmi, chairman of the Ratha Yatra Ceremony Committee, said that since this Ratha Yatra is the biggest and oldest in Nepal, it has a special significance. He said that after Jaganathpuri Rath Yatra, which is the largest in India, Biratnagar is the second largest Rath Yatra.
Arrangements were made to rest the chariot of Radhakrishna at 44 places so that it would be easy to worship. Lately, the number of devotees in Biratnagar's Rath Yatra has been decreasing since Rath Yatras were started at various places in Morang including Sunsari, Jhapa. However, many people come from Vihar and West Bengal in India to see the chariot.
