24 August, Kathmandu. The political changes built on the foundations of the Genji movement led Balen Shah to the prime minister's chair. But Prime Minister Shah himself did not attend the commemoration day of the youth who lost their lives in the same movement.
The families of the martyrs and the injured gathered in New Baneshwar on Tuesday on the one year anniversary of the Zenji movement. They came not only to remember their children, but also to find answers to the questions raised by the movement. Prime Minister Shah was searched in the program.
The Prime Minister did not appear in the program.
He did not have a formal presence throughout the day. Finally, in the evening, through social media, he wrote, "Dear Genji, good governance will be maintained, heartfelt tributes to the martyrs."
It has been revealed from the family of martyrs in Parliament on Wednesday that even this one-sentence message was not in the interest and desire of Prime Minister Shah.
Rachna Khatiwada Khatri, a RSVP MP and the mother of Genji Shaheed, while speaking in the House of Representatives, asked the Prime Minister, "How many years will the government get justice for the martyrs?" How many years will it take to meet the families of martyrs and injured?'
According to him, Shaheed's family had repeatedly requested the Prime Minister to come to the program. She said, "The status came at 7:00 PM instead of 7:00 AM asking you to either come, say something, or write something in the name of Genji Shaheed." Finally, a year later, a tribute to the martyr.
As he said, Prime Minister Shah's one-sentence tribute message was posted at 7:18 p.m. after nightfall.
After the Bhotekoshi flood, Prime Minister Shah, who used to write Llama Llama status every day while addressing the countrymen, revealed that only one sentence was spent at night after the family of martyrs repeatedly asked for Genji, the martyr's mother raised serious political and moral questions to the government from the parliament.
His question is the answer sought from the government - why did the person who led the political change after his sacrifice not attend the event held in memory of that sacrifice?
Prime Minister Shah's Facebook status has a promise that 'good governance will be maintained'. But the Genji family isn't looking for another post of commitment right now. They are looking for, when will justice be done?
On Tuesday, the participants of the Genji memorial meeting were saddened for various reasons. First, the Prime Minister did not attend the event. Also, controversial characters were seen on the stage of the show. The Home Minister addressed the questioners and the opposition in threatening language. Videos of those who asked questions were suppressed at the event venue. The management of the program was such a mess.
Also, the progress of the government did not give much satisfaction to the family of the martyrs. The youth participating in the program kept this matter open.
So, the question is not only at what time Prime Minister Shah paid his respects as the Prime Minister, why did not the families of the martyrs come to Genji Memorial Assembly even though they paid taxes, the question is how many times did he communicate with the family of the martyrs of the movement that brought him to power?
One of the key demands of the Zenji movement was good governance and accountability. The last four lines of the Prime Minister's message also contain the same words, 'Good governance will be maintained.'
It should not be forgotten that when the families of martyrs seek justice from the state, it is also a part of good governance for the state to stand before them.
Offering flowers to the image of the martyr can be a formality. Sooner or later, writing a four-line tribute can be easy.
But it is not easy to answer the question of the martyr's mother, "How many years does the government get justice for the martyr?" And this is the question that is now haunting Prime Minister Balen Shah.
When the martyr's mother raises questions like this from Parliament, more questions have been raised. That the government is not able to work in a way that even its own leaders and workers can understand. That the government is not even communicating with its own leaders about what it is doing, it is not being able to explain.
Whatever may be the reason for this lack of communication, democratic values, beliefs, methods and culture are not compatible.
Prime Minister Shah, don't ignore the questions. Also, don't ignore the questions of the martyr's mother.
It is in this lack of communication that any power takes place.
For example, some scenes and expressions of Tuesday's memorial meeting are enough.
Controversial 'religious leaders' sat at the front of the memorial meeting. They pushed back not only the ministers, but also the Inspector General of Police, who was investigating the controversial religious leaders, and sat in the front row of the platform.
They did not just sit in the front row, they challenged and threatened the Prime Minister in the absence of the Prime Minister.
This may have added some shine to the face of Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, but how can the police, who have been made innocent, investigate those characters who challenge the Prime Minister sitting in front of him? What kind of research?
In the absence of answers (dialogue), more questions will be added. What is its price? Let's find the answer by remembering recent history.
