25 August, Surkhet. Due to the incessant rain since Tuesday evening, various places in Surkhet have suffered physical damage and the Karnali highway has also been blocked.

According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, due to the rain, houses and structures in the Birendranagar market area have been flooded and the walls have collapsed. Also, one person was injured due to lightning.

According to the police, about 10 meters of the wall of the compound of the army school operated by the Nepalese army located in Birendranagar-6 has collapsed due to rain. Although the wall collapsed, there was no other damage, police said.

Similarly, the buffalo pasture of Surya Salami, a resident of Birendranagar-4 Shaheed Park, has been washed away by the Khorke river. After getting the information about the incident, the police team reached the spot and made necessary coordination.

Water has entered four-five shops near Model College located in Birendranagar-8 after the road drain was blocked. The police have mobilized a team and taken necessary steps to drain the water.

Similarly, 37-year-old Tulsi Budhathoki was injured by lightning in Birendranagar-14 Lade. He was sent to Karnali Pradesh Hospital, Kalagaon, Surkhet for treatment, police said. His condition is said to be normal.

The Karnali highway has been completely blocked due to a landslide in Barahtal Rural Municipality-7 Aulise. After the road was blocked, a team with traffic police from police station Baddichaur has been deployed to the spot.

The police said that they are coordinating with the road division office to remove the landslide and bring the road into operation.

Due to the continuous rain, there is a risk of landslides and further damage, the police has asked the passengers and the general public to take necessary precautions.
