The police have arrested two businessmen from two separate places in Bhaktapur on the charge of black-marketing LP gas for cooking at high prices. 89 full gas cylinders have been recovered from them.
A team deployed under the command of Police Inspector Hem Bahadur Thapalia from Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office Teku raided the 'Sarlahi General Store' located in Suryavinayak Municipality-3, Bramhanagar at 5 pm on Thursday.
The owner, Umesh Shah, was arrested while selling gas from the shop to consumers at a rate of Rs 2,800 per cylinder.
According to the police, 75 filled cylinders of 'Himal gas' were recovered from the grocery store of 25-year-old Shah, who is currently living in Bramhanagar, Barhathwa Municipality-7 of Sarlahi.
Similarly, the same team has arrested another businessman with 14 full cylinders of 'Sagar Gas' from Bhaktapur Municipality-2 Itache at 6:30 pm on Thursday. 41-year-old local Rajesh Karmacharya has been arrested.
Both the arrested persons along with a total of 89 cylinders have been handed over to District Police Complex Bhaktapur for further investigation and legal action.
According to the police, the investigation process under the black market and some other social crimes act has been initiated against them.
