There, the fields have been damaged by insects. Not only there, but in all the fields in the dry areas of the district, the insects have eaten the roots and dried up the rice plants.
Earlier, such a problem was seen only in a few places, but now all the fields have been eaten by insects, and our grass has been taken away. Even this unripe and dry straw is not eaten by the four-legged animals, they have also been deprived of their winter grass. I am worried about what to eat now. Ram Bahadur Bista of Badimalika-3 Chowrata expressed his grief.
He added: "Now, when we are thinking that the paddy has been planted and the weeds have been cleared and the field will be fruitful, the field has become bare even during Dashain.
"Those who have farms in other places have problems from other places, but for farmers like us who have farms in one place, it has become a big problem. If the insects destroy the crops like this when the crops are ripening, it will be difficult to harvest the crops in the winter. Lakshmiraj Padhyay of Badimalika-7 said.
It's not that we don't have a farm to earn income, we have enough land to grow, ripen and eat, but no matter what we plant, after it grows, the locust destroys it and that's where the problem is. This is a problem every year. Amar Bahadur Khadka of Badimalika Municipality-3 Razali said.
Farmers understand that most of the paddy field in Bajura has sandy soil and the sandy soil where they grow sown paddy. This time too, the paddy and millet planted in the fields have turned yellow and dried up, there is no hope of eating them," said Lal Bahadur Rawal of Badimalika-8 Rawalbada.
Nirpanath Yogi, an expert at Agricultural Knowledge Center Bajura, said: 'The scientific name of khumrekira is Phyllophaga spp. The bed bug is the most destructive insect pest. It tends to grow in dry land rather than the planting site. Most of the land here is steep and waterlogged. That is why it has not been controlled.
According to Yogi, "In our district, farmers are putting unripe manure on the crops, so this insect is more common. Adults of mosquitoes belong to the scaly group. Khumrekira is the most destructive insect that lives in the soil. This insect eats the roots of young plants after the crop has grown. It also causes damage to corn, millet, vegetable crops, potatoes, beans, bodi, ginger and tea.
