25 August, Kathmandu. Kathmandu district court has sentenced former parliamentarian and businessman Ichcharaj Tamang to 5 years and 6 months imprisonment.

Judge Krita Bahadur Bohra's bench on Thursday sentenced Tamang to imprisonment and a fine in the civil cooperative fraud and organized crime case.

According to the court, he was fined 50,000 rupees.

The court convicted 17 people including Tamang. Among them are Praveen Prasad Pradhan, Keshavlal Shrestha, Ramkrishna Paudel, Harihar Prasad Lamichhane, Danhira Tuladhar Kansakar, Srijan Shakya Tamang, Lalkaji Gurung, Durga Prasad Sangraula, Jayandralal Shrestha, Khemnath Dallakoti, Mukunda Prasad Neupane, Nagendra Vimali, Ramraj Maske, Hariprasad Risal and Meena Gurung. According to the crime, their punishment and fine are different.
